Reconstruction of the 100km Nata-Gweta section of the A3 highway is progressing well, marking a significant milestone in Botswana’s efforts to modernize transport infrastructure and enhance regional connectivity within the SADC region. Led by the HSNV Group, the project will improve access, support local communities, and stimulate cross-border trade.
The Nata-Gweta road project is one of the Development Manager (DM) projects that have been allowed to progress during the review of the DM model.
HSNV Group, a 100% citizen-owned and run entity, has shared, “The bypass is under construction; the old Nata-Gweta road, which passes through villages like Zoroga, is being rehabilitated and sealed to be used for traffic accommodation during A3 Nata-Gweta reconstruction.”
The company reports that establishment of this bypass will ensure the local communities continue to enjoy access to essential services and maintain connectivity during reconstruction of the main highway.
Local subcontractor Burma Enterprises has been engaged to undertake the work of constructing a bypass road.
To date, the project has employed 66 people from the villages along the project corridor.
